General approach
These video packs are designed to support the generalist class teacher
who has not been trained as a specialist language teacher. Each pack covers
at least a term's work, and centres round a video for class use. The videos
are recorded with native speakers (not actors) in realistic contexts in
the country - giving pupils an authentic model of pronunciation.
The teachers guide
suggests class and group activities which mainly involce talking and listening;
also photocopiable worksheets and flashcards to practice word recognition.
The courses are designed specifically for KS2 and SEN use, and have been
widely tested and used in different LEAs across the UK. Vocabulary and
images are selected for relevance to primary-age children: progression
is in very small steps with constant repetition.
