Regular sessions are held at various venues in North and North East Lincolnshire. Date: 18/09/08 People were encouraged to bring along and share any games and activities which they had successfully used. We started off with people being given identity cards with information D/O/B, family etc. We were told we were looking for a criminal and had to go round the room asking each other questions (in French). Each person was also given a master sheet to collect information. Eventually the criminal was found. Next someone else shared a "loop" game, again using cards - Person No.1 "J'ai un auto. Qui a un camion?" (Everyone looked at cards) Person No. 2 "J'ai un camion. Qui a un avion?". We used the same idea with number sentences. A newcomer to the group shared some games on a website. Someone else shared her idea based on battleships. We gave out handouts and everyone enjoyed the French cheese and wine on offer. Date: 13/11/08 The meeting began with "Christmas" food from other countries - France and Germany actually. The FLAs made delicious tarte tatin and a local supermarket proved to be an excellent source of Stollen and German spiced biscuits. The FLAs brought PowerPoint presentations. Anthony and Lucile from France went first mentioning that Christmas in France is a time for families and charities. They talked about Christmas trees and the importance of the Nativity. The feast of St Nicolas on December 6th was also explained. They told us all about le Reveillon on 24 December, midnight mass and went through menus for le repas de Noël. They went on to play Christmas songs and then spoke about 6 January and the Galette des Rois. Inma from Spain began with a picture of a Christmas tree made of poinsettia plants. She talked about the religious aspect of Christmas in a Catholic country. Near Christmas comes El Gordo with a huge lottery prize. Food for Christmas and New Year and 6 January were discussed using photographs. Date: 19/03/09 Date: 04/06/09 Date: 02/07/09
