Title: Practical Activities and Resources for Mixed Age Classes
Venue: St. John's Primary School, Tisbury
Time: 4.00-5.30
Speaker: Trevor Davies, Wiltshire Primary Languages Coordinator

Trevor Davies gave a presentation on strategies for long term planning for mixed age classes followed by a selection of ideas and resources for differentiating in mixed age languages classes. The audience participated well and went away with a free resource book of 100+ Ideas for the Languages Classroom. This was the first RSG under the new system of offering twilight sessions to clusters around the county, rather than centrally, and the first RSG in this area of the county. All attenders were therefore new to RSGs and appreciative of training offered close enough for them to access.

Title: The Magic of Languages
Venue: Paxcroft Primary School, Trowbridge
Time: 4.00-5.45
Speaker: Helen Groothues, CILT

Helen Groothues gave an inspirational presentation on the benefits of using magic tricks as filler activities for stimulating a range of language use. The large and appreciative audience participated in the amazing wizardry whilst taking notes and even practising themselves to become classroom magicians. The session was followed by a very productive, more general discussion and sharing of ideas for filler activities in the languages classroom.
