Title: The Primary Languages Training Zone
Speaker: Trevor Davies, Primary Languages Coordinator, Wiltshire

Trevor Davies showed the different sections of the Training Zone, using several example videos to illustrate the diversity and flexibility of the materials on the site. The response from those attending was very positive and the session finished working live on the website, selecting videos to look at from a site map prepared for the purpose.

Title: KS2 - KS3 Transition

Transition was discussed in detail following an initial presentation from Trevor Davies, and feedback from the course for secondary teachers with responsibility for primary liaison from most of the secondaries in Wilts. A contribution was made by Helen Jacobs from the Mere and Tisbury cluster about their transition arrangements.
Various other transition materials from different sources were presented and discussed, including European Languages Portfolio and materials submitted by other local secondaries.

Despite only six people attending this session, there was constructive sharing of resources and ideas for teaching KS1. Advice provided from those unable to attend was collated and produced for circulation. Materials and catalogues from suppliers were brought along and discussed and decisions made on materials to purchase and try out in future.

Jen Berry from Bristol, gave an informative talk, with many practical examples and lots of advice for teaching mixed age classes. There was much useful discussion following the presentation, and materials available to view.

Title: Story Making in French

Jo Cole from the International Learning and Research Centre gave an informative, practical and interactive presentation on the use of the Story-Making methodology in French. She demonstrated one story that has been specially written to develop listening and speaking skills in French through active pupil participation in story-telling in French. Teachers attending went away with the materials and confidence to deliver the story to hteir own pupils.
