RCG 1: Tuesday 26 September 2006
Venue: Bournemouth School Language College

Items discussed:

  • Possible content of RSG sessions.
  • Need to marry Language College work with LA initiative.
  • CPD skills needs for all Primary teachers in Spanish and French as ALL schools now involved.
  • Transition and the involvement of all secondary schools.
  • Arrangements for arrival and induction / inset for Primary FLAS.
  • CSW Andalucia links and Head teachers involved

RCG 2: Thursday 9 October 2006 (Joint CSW RSG groups meeting)

  • Cooperation between regions
  • Purpose of RSGs
  • Programmes of Events

RCG 3: Tuesday 6 February 2007
Venue: Bournemouth School Language College
Time: 9.30 – 11.00
Items discussed:

  • Progress made so far re PMFL Initiatives and evaluations of such. (ALL schools in the Borough currently delivering PMFL from at least Year 3 and enthusiasm growing).
  • Need now for MFL pedagogy and practice sessions to ensure progression. Teacher skills and confidence remains an issue to be resolved.
  • LA/LC combined to continue development of local POS and MFL Portal community resources bank. Feedback from schools re quality of current provision very positive.
  • Assessment and the development of pupil portfolios to link with AfL and smooth transition to KS3.
  • FLA programme for 2007/2008.
  • Devon/Cornwall/Bournemouth plans to develop “Normandy trips”

RCG 4: Tuesday 8 May 2007 (Joint CSW RSG groups meeting)

RCG 5: Tuesday 12 June 2007
Venue: Bournemouth School Language College
Time: 9:30 - 11:30

Items discussed:

  • RAG reviews for PMFL evaluation
  • Teacher skills and confidence remains a focus for future activities
  • Development of assessment portfolios is a combined initiative between Bournemouth LA and Poole
  • Transition to KS3. LA “day” now including MFL section activities with J O’Hare and S Levett
  • FLA programme for 2007/2008 now in place. HT briefing organised to inform actions. Number now increased to 10 assistants 8 French and 2 Spanish with all schools bar two participating
  • Devon/Cornwall/Bournemouth initiative “Normandy trips” now confirmed as 20th September 4 days
