The teaching of French at Ocker Hill Junior School begins in year 4 through to 6. We deliver specific teaching as curriculum entitlement.

To facilitate this initiative we employ a part time language teacher (qualified to teach French and Italian).

To support our French teaching we are linked with a school in France plus three other EC countries.

The scheme of work we follow has been created with full participation of the modern languages department of our feeder high school. Our approach is primarily oral with increasing written content towards year six.

Our aim is to provide our high school with pupils who are enthusiastic towards the acquisition of languages as a tool for life.
