Please note: This section is currently being updated. In the See
a school section you will get a taste of what is happening in some
schools around the country as they tackle the teaching of languages to
early learners. Education Minister,
Catherine Ashton set out how schools in nineteen local education authorities
will set the trail for a revolution in language learning as a first step
towards ensuring
all 7- 11 year olds have the opportunity to learn a foreign language.
The Primary Pathfinder section follows
their progress. The Good Practice Project ran from September 1999 - March 2001, as part of the Early Language Learning initiative. The eighteen Projects from England and Wales were involved in investigating the key issues surrounding early language learning and reported back to CILT on their findings. Following the Good Practice Project, many schools and LEAs were keen to share good practice by submitting details of the MFL entitlement that they were offering in their schools. Reports were also written retrospectively looking at the impact that taking part in the Good Practice Project has had on each individual Project. Click here to see those reports. |
