We aim to report on materials for pre-school and primary age groups as they come to our attention. This will include:
Songs in French There is a steady flow of song packages for use with primary learners of French. Most aim to support use of the QCA schemes of work and/or the Key Stage 2 Framework. One resource tailored to younger learners (ie pre-school or Key Stage 1) is J’aime chanter! 20 French songs for young children (Brilliant Publications). Songs set to familiar tunes, in vocal and instrumental versions. The songbook features lyrics and English translations. Suggests possible exploitation activities. Also contains copiable material. Chantons en choeur! Songs for young learners of French is new from Merryman Primary Resources. Audio-CD for use with children aged 7-11. Accessible to specialist or non-specialist staff. Potential links to other Merryman resources, eg its online scheme of work and topic-based Dans la poche packs. Can also provide basis for other oracy and literacy activities. Disponible en español Spanish equivalents of several recent French ‘originals’ have begun to appear. LCP Primary Spanish Resource Files 1 is a core resource for beginners. Intended for years 3/4, but could also support older beginners. Spanish, Years 3 and 4: a comprehensive scheme of work, like its French equivalent, was developed within Wakefield local authority. In line with the Key Stage 2 Framework. First in a range of resources for Spanish being prepared by La Jolie Ronde. Includes the CD below, also available separately. Canta en español 1: songs and poems in Spanish. 37 songs and poems, recorded by native speakers, with English transcripts. |
